On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court ruled that Assembly bill x126 (the dissolution act" dissolving all redevelopment agencies in california) is constitutional and assembly bill x1 27 (the "alternative redevelopment program act" that would have allowed continued operations provided that agreements were made to make payments to fund schools and special districts) is unconstitutional.
Therefore As of January 31, 2012 CRA/LA will cease to exist. A new successor entity will be responsible for the administration of redevelopment and all its activities, including the dissolution and winding down of the CRA/LA. Unfortunately, due to these recent changes CACs and PACs will no longer be needed to provide an advisory position for redevelopment.
The Mid City Corridor Redevelopment Project Area Committee members (PAC) are elected by the community at- large, and are certified by City Council. The PACs are community representatives of various stakeholder groups, which include property owners, businesses, homeowners, residential tenants and community-based organizations. Although individually elected, the Mid City Corridor PAC conduct monthly joint PAC meetings to consult and advise the redevelopment agency on redevelopment activities affecting their community.
