The Chinatown Redevelopment Plan requires CRA/LA’s review and approval of any permit application before the Department of Building & Safety can issue a building permits.  Proposed improvements, including those in properties with historic significance, shall comply to land uses and other provisions in the Redevelopment Plan and requirements set by California Environmental Quality Act.  In addition, a Design for Development contains specific standards that regulate placement and design of pole signs and billboards.  Permit applicants are strongly advised to contact Ed Huang, Senior Planner, at 213-977-1785 early in the process in order to prevent last minute difficulties.
