1992
Project Area: CBD/Financial Core
Project: The Gas Company Tower
Project Location: 555 W. Fifth Street
Project Type: Developer
Description:
A 35,000 sq. ft. mural representation of a montage of paper collage, photographs of a metal construction, tape, push pins, and scraps of paper. "Dusk" is the largest mural in Downtown and one of the largest in Los Angeles. Located on the south wall of the Pacific Bell switching station, the piece is based on Stella's "Moby Dick" series that concerns motion and travel. The title of the work, like the others in the series, is after a chapter title in Melville's classic.
